Although this is a 'FAITHBUILDERS SITE', Walkabout Annie & the 'Old Shoe'...seems an 'odd' name to give a blog...it just popped into my mind, (Anne-Marie's) while thinking about my fantastically adventurous often spontaneous journey's with Peter over the last 34 years and what new adventures are out there beyond the horizon and just itching to be embarked on....'Walkabout Annie'.. because I love adventure, have a craving for the open road, I love that space over the horizon, love different cultures...I'm soo curious, and often wander off to see what is around the corner, daydream....and the Old Shoe bit...haha...well, it isn't meant in a derogatory way....I love my Mannikins, and couldn't imagine embarking on the journey that we are on (a real 'Faith-Journey')....without him....sooo....'Old Shoe' because.....when you set out hiking or going on a walk of any length a 'walkabout'...you wouldn't consider wearing new shoes...you look for the ones that you feel the most comfortable in...the ones that have journeyed with you before, that have some real mileage...are 'worn in', they don't have that squeeky new look about them...but are scuffed, a little ragged, scratched, a little bald in patches...but oh...they know you so well...AND are definitely too good to throw out...in fact, you ain't ever gonna throw them out...haha!! Soooo.....we are about to pack up again (after having been with our kids and grand-girlies for a few moths)...and tie that little bundle at the end of a stick....and together with my 'old shoe' walkabout to the other side of the globe...to South Africa....where my feet find 'their place'....it's both exciting AND daunting...the new challenges, adventures up ahead...but we have a YES in our spirits and heart....and want to share this journey together with you.
